Postseason Central: Crew, Lacrosse, Softball, Track & Field In Action This Weekend

WELLESLEY, Mass. -- Four Wellesley College teams will be in action in postseason and championship competition this Friday and Saturday, April 29-30. Blue lacrosse, softball and track & field will take part in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) championships, while 2016 NEWMAC champion Wellesley crew will compete at the New England Rowing Championships on Lake Quinsigamond. Crew

Blue crew, ranked No. 3 in the latest CRCA national coaches poll, will compete at the the New England Rowing Championships on Saturday, April 30 on Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Mass. The NERC is a regional championship regatta for qualifying colleges in the six New England States. It has been run since 1961 and currently offers 14 events for men and women. Over 1200 competitors and 36 schools participate in the regatta each year. For more information, visit www.qra.org/nerc/

Wellesley will open competition at 8:30 AM with the Women's Novice 4 and will continue throughout the day leading up to the Varsity Eight Finals beginning at 5:00 PM. For a complete schedule of Saturday's races, visit www.qra.org/nerc/pdf/NERC_Lanes.pdf

Lacrosse

NEWMAC Quarterfinals: Saturday, April 30th: #5 Wellesley (4-4) at #4 MIT (5-3) - 1 PM Live Stats | Video

The NEWMAC women's lacrosse tournament will begin on Saturday, April 30, with the fifth seeded Blue playing at fourth-seeded MIT. The winner of Saturday's game will move on to face top-seeded Babson at Babson in the first semifinal at 12:00 PM on Saturday, May 7. The semifinal winners will face off for the NEWMAC championship at Babson on Sunday, May 8 at 1:00 PM.

Softball

Game 1: Friday April 29: #5 Wellesley vs. #4 Babson – 3:30 PM (at WPI) Live Stats | Video

The NEWMAC Softball Championship will begin on Friday, April 29. Wellesley earned the fifth seed thanks to a 9-9 record in NEWMAC regular season play and will open the tournament versus fourth-seeded Babson at WPI at 3:30 PM. The winner of Friday's game between Wellesley and Babson will advance to play top-seeded WPI at 5:30 PM. The loser will return to action on Saturday, April 30, at 11:00 AM versus an opponent to be announced. The highest remaining seed following this weekend's double-elimination format, will host the championship next Saturday, May 7, and, if necessary, a single game will be played on Sunday, May 8, to determine the champion.

Blue track & field will travel to the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in New London, Conn. for the 2016 NEWMAC Track & Field Championships on Saturday, April 30 at 11:00 AM.
