Wellesley College Athletics Celebrates NCAA DIII Week

WELLESLEY, Mass. -- This week, April 6-12, 2015, Wellesley College is joining approximately 450 NCAA Division III schools and 43 conferences in the nationwide celebration of NCAA Division III Week. On average, about one-fifth of students enrolled at NCAA Division III member schools participate in varsity athletics. Wellesley College is proud of our student-athletes, who excel both in the classroom and in athletic competition while demonstrating leadership, community service and campus involvement.

Approximately 39 percent of all NCAA student-athletes compete at Division III institutions. Over the next four days, wellesleyblue.com will feature daily profiles that will provide an opportunity to meet four of our outstanding Division III student-athletes. Each profile will touch on multiple aspects of the student-athlete experience, including: on and off the field accomplishments, leadership and community involvement and what being a Division III student-athlete means to them.

In addition, we invite you to cheer on Blue softball and lacrosse student-athletes as they will host games on campus this week. Softball will welcome New England Women’s and Men’s Athletics Conference (NEWMAC) opponents Emerson, on Tuesday, April 7, and Wheaton, on Friday, April 10, as well as non-conference Endicott on Wednesday, April 8. Lacrosse will also be in action when they host Coast Guard for Senior Day on Saturday, April 11.

Division III Week is a positive opportunity for all individuals associated with Division III institutions to observe and celebrate the impact athletics and student-athletes have on campus and in the surrounding community. We invite you to cheer on the Blue and join in this celebration!
