Wellesley Athletics Names Miles Roberts Director of Sports Information

WELLESLEY, Mass. -- Wellesley College Director of Athletics Bridget Belgiovine has announced the hiring of Miles Roberts as Director of Sports Information. Roberts has worked as Wellesley’s Interim Director of Sports Information since October 2014.

“Miles has done a tremendous job for us after stepping into the position mid-fall and we are thrilled to have him join our department on a full-time basis,” said Belgiovine. “He displayed an outstanding commitment to our tradition of promoting and highlighting the achievements of all Wellesley student-athletes and coaches. We look forward to continuing to work with him.”

Roberts came to Wellesley from nearby Pine Manor College in Chestnut Hill, Mass. While at Pine Manor, Roberts served in a variety of roles, including most recently as Assistant Athletic Director and Sports Information Director.

He joined Pine Manor as an assistant volleyball coach in August of 2010, working for two seasons as a part of Head Coach Mike Murphy’s staff that helped the Gators improve to 10-15 in 2010 and 14-9 in 2011 after the program had managed just one win in 2009. Following the 2010 season, Roberts was named Interim Sports Information Director (SID) at Pine Manor. He served as interim SID until 2011, when he was named the full-time SID. Roberts was also the Gators’ head volleyball coach during the 2013 season.

Prior to arriving at Pine Manor, Roberts was a part of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) internship program. He wrote stories as a website correspondent and also attended the 2010 GNAC Professional Development Seminar in Boston. In addition, Roberts has provided game-day statistical assistance to Lasell College men’s and women’s basketball.

“I am thrilled to continue working at Wellesley and with our student-athletes,” said Roberts. “Wellesley has a tremendous athletic history and tradition and I look forward to having the opportunity to being a part of the department both next year and beyond.”

A 2010 graduate of Boston University with a double major in Political Science and American Studies, he is a member of the Eastern College Athletic Conference Sports Information Directors Association (ECAC-SIDA) and the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
