Field Hockey's Gruet Earns NEWMAC Offensive Player of the Week Honors

WELLESLEY, Mass. -- Wellesley College's Nathalie Gruet was named the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Field Hockey Offensive Player of the Week for the period ending September 21.

Gruet led Wellesley to a 2-0 week, including a double-overtime win at Trinity and a NEWMAC victory over Wheaton. Against Trinity, the senior scored the game winner in the second extra stanza, deflecting a shot off a corner for a 3-2 Wellesley win.

Gruet wrapped up the week with a goal and an assist in a 7-0 win at Wheaton. She now has 10 goals and seven assists for 27 points, good for second on Wellesley.

The Blue are 7-0 on the season, allowing just five goals all season, while scoring 48 times. Wellesley is ranked #12 on the NFHCA Division III poll.

Wellesley field hockey is back in action on Wednesday, hosting Connecticut College at 4:30pm.
