Blue Field Hockey's Sridhar Earns NEWMAC Weekly Honors

WELLESLEY, Mass. -- Wellesley College's Anissa Sridhar was named the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Field Hockey Offensive Player of the Week for the period ending September 28th.

Sridhar recorded a six-point week, leading Wellesley to a pair of victories and a 9-0 overall record. On Wednesday, the junior tallied an unassisted goal in the Blue's 4-1 win against Connecticut College. Sridhar then scored both goals in Wellesley's 2-1 victory over No. 18 Mount Holyoke -- a rematch of the 2013 NEWMAC title game.

For the season, Sridhar is tied for second on the team with seven assists. She also ranks third in both goals (7) and points (21).

Wellesley field hockey is ranked 10th in the nation in the latest NFHCA Division III poll. The Blue are back in action on Wednesday, heading to Bowdoin to take on the top-ranked and defending NCAA Champion Polar Bears.
