Wellesley Field Hockey Hosts 2014 NEWMAC Championship Tournament This Weekend

WELLESLEY, Mass. — Wellesley College will host the 2014 NEWMAC Field Hockey Championship Tournament this weekend, November 8-9, 2014 at the Wellesley Outdoor Fields Complex. 

The top-seeded Blue, who captured the regular season title with an 8-0 record in league play (16-2 overall), will take on fourth-seeded Babson College (12-9, 4-4 NEWMAC) on Saturday at 11:00 AM in the first of two semifinal match-ups. Second seeded Mount Holyoke (15-2, 7-1 NEWMAC) and third-seeded MIT (12-4, 5-3 NEWMAC) will play in the second semifinal beginning at 2:00 PM.   

The Championship Game between the winners of Saturday's semifinals will take place at 1:00 PM on Sunday, November 9.  

Both Wellesley, the 2013 NEWMAC Champion, and Mount Holyoke received first-round byes to the semifinal round while both Babson and MIT advanced to championship weekend with 1-0 victories. The Engineers defeated sixth-seeded WPI while the Beavers advanced after defeating Springfield.
