Gruet, Peterson, Sridhar Named Longstreth/NFHCA All-Americans

WELLESLEY, Mass. — Wellesley College field hockey seniors Nathalie Gruet and Meghan Peterson and junior Anissa Sridhar have been named 2014 Longstreth/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III All-Americans.

Gruet was named to the first team for the second consecutive season, becoming the first back-to-back All-American for the program since Marret Arfsten '03 and Betsy Masiello '03 were honored in both 2001 and 2002. Peterson earns her first All-America honor with a place on the second team, while Sridhar also picks up her first All-American honor after being named to the third-team.

The 2014 and 2013 NFHCA New England East Region and New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Player of the Year, Gruet also earned NFHCA first-team All-Region honors for the third straight season in 2014. The Acton, Mass. native was also selected to the NEWMAC first team for the fourth consecutive season after registered a team-leading 53 points on 21 goals and 11 assists this season. 

During her career in Blue, Gruet totaled 147 points, scoring 63 goals and 21 assists in 83 games. Gruet earned back-to-back NEWMAC and NFHCA All-Region Player of the Year honors in 2013 and 2014 and was the NEWMAC Rookie of the Year in 2011.

Peterson, a native of Glastonbury, Conn., earns her first All-American second-team honor after collecting her second consecutive NFHCA All-Region and NEWMAC All-Conference first team selections in 2014. The senior defender guided the Blue to ten shutouts this season, including a 1-0 victory in the NEWMAC Championships Game that helped Peterson take home Tournament Most Outstanding Player honors. 

Peterson finished the year with 13 points on four goals and five assists, giving her career totals of 39 points on eight goals and 23 assists over 82 career games. 

Sridhar earns her first All-American award with a place on the third-team. A junior from Idlerton, Ontario, Sridhar was a back-to-back NFHCA All-Region selection in 2013 and 2014, earning first-team honors this season after being selected to the second-team last season. A member of the NEWMAC All-Conference first-team, Sridhar scored 11 goals and added 10 assists, tallying 32 points for the Blue this season.

The 2014 Wellesley Field Hockey team finished the season with a program best 19-3 overall record while going undefeated in NEWMAC play. The Blue won their second consecutive NEWMAC Championship and advanced to the Elite Eight of the NCAA Division III Field Hockey Tournament for the second season in-a-row.
