Wellesley Field Hockey Claims Top Spot in NEWMAC Preseason Coaches' Poll

BOSTON, Mass. – The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) has released the annual Preseason Coaches' Poll for field hockey. After claiming the programs eighth NEWMAC title and second consecutive last season, Wellesley has been tabbed as the preseason favorite with 68 total points and five first place votes.

Slotted at second, 2014 finalist, Mount Holyoke claimed one first place vote and a total of 68, MIT was voted third with one first place vote and 59 total points, Babson took fourth with two first place votes for a total of 52. Rounding out the remaining slots was #5 Springfield (70), #6 WPI (33), #7 Clark (23), #8 Smith (22) and #9 Wheaton (Mass.) (21).

Wellesley will open the 2015 season on Saturday, September 5th at 12:00 PM when they host Husson.
