Field Hockey's Connelly Named NEWMAC Defensive Athlete of the Week

WELLESLEY, Mass. -- Wellesley College field hockey sophomore Maggie Connelly (Duxbury, Mass.) has been named the New England Women's & Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Field Hockey Defensive Athlete of the Week for the week ending September 25th, 2016.

Connelly was spectacular in the cage this week for the Blue, recording a .963 save percentage. Making just her second career start on Tuesday, Connelly made 12 saves in Wellesley's 1-0 setback on the road at No. 7 Tufts. Connelly followed that performance with a 14 save shutout, coming up big time and time again in the second half, as Wellesley earned a 1-0 overtime victory over rival Mount Holyoke on Saturday

Wellesley field hockey will travel to top-ranked Bowdoin College for the team's next game on Wednesday, September 28, at 6:30 PM.
