Mitropoulos Named NEWMAC Field Hockey Co-Offensive Athlete of the Week
WELLESLEY, Mass. -- Wellesley field hockey junior Arielle Mitropoulos (Cambridge, Mass.) has been named the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Field Hockey Co-Offensive Athlete of the Week for the week ending October 29, 2017. Mitropoulos shares this week's award with junior Colby Newsham (Harvard, Mass.) of Mount Holyoke College.
Mitropoulos capped a five-goal week with an OT game-winner against Wheaton that helped the Blue clinch a spot in the NEWMAC postseason. Mitropoulos scored her first career hat trick in a 5-2 Wellesley victory over non-conference UMass Dartmouth on Wednesday. She then scored a pair of goals in Wellesley's regular season finale at Wheaton, netting her first in the opening half before scoring in OT to lift the Blue to a 4-3 victory over the Lyons.
Mitropoulos and the Blue will play at Smith in the opening round of the 2017 NEWMAC Field Hockey Championship tomorrow night, Tuesday, October 31, at 7:00 PM.
