WELLESLEY, Mass. -- The 2017 Longstreth/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III All-Region teams were announced on Wednesday and Wellesley College field hockey senior Emmy Hamilton (New York, N.Y.) has been named to the New England East Region First Team. In addition, junior Arielle Mitropoulos (Cambridge, Mass.) has been named to the All-Region Second Team.

An NFHCA All-Region second team selection in 2015 and 2016, Hamilton earns All-Region First Team accolades for the first time following her final season in Blue. Hamilton represented the Blue in the annual NFHCA Division III Senior Game after recording career-highs in both goals (4) and assists (5) while splitting time between midfield and defense in 2017. A New England Women's & Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) All-Conference first team selection in 2017, Hamilton was also a NEWMAC second team selection in 2015 and 2016 and a NEWMAC Academic All-Conference and NFHCA Academic Squad honoree in every year she was eligible.

Mitropoulos enjoyed a breakout season in 2017, registering a career-high 12 goals en route to the first NEWMAC All-Conference and NFHCA All-Region selections of her career. The NEWMAC Co-Offensive Player of the Week on October 30th, Mitropoulos garnered national attention when she was awarded Longstreth/NFHCA Division III National Offensive Player of the Week honors on November 1st, following a week in which she recorded her first career hat trick against UMass Dartmouth and scored an OT game-winner in a two-goal game against Wheaton.

The Blue's all-region duo combined to score Wellesley's only goal in a season-ending setback to MIT in the NEWMAC Semifinals, with Hamilton assisting on Mitropoulos' effort. Wellesley field hockey finished the season with an 8-12 overall record, going 3-5 in the NEWMAC regular season and defeating Smith, 3-0, in the NEWMAC quarterfinals.

The Longstreth/NFHCA Division III Regional Players of the Year will be announced on Thursday, with the All-America squad coming out on Dec. 6 and the National Player of the Year on Dec. 13.
