Wellesley Field Hockey Garners 2017 Academic Honors from NFHCA

WELLESLEY, Mass. – The Wellesley College field hockey program has received a 2017 Zag Field Hockey / NFHCA Division III National Academic Team Award, recognizing the team's collective academic achievement during the fall 2017 season. In addition, six members of the Blue field hockey team have been named to the 2017 Zag Field Hockey / NFHCA Division III National Academic Squad. 

The Division III National Academic Team Award recognizes those programs that earned a team GPA of 3.00 or higher during the Fall Semester of the 2017-18 academic year, while the Division III National Academic Squad recognizes those student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher through the first semester of the 2017-18 academic year. In total, over 1,700 student-athletes representing 149 schools have been selected to the 2017 Zag Field Hockey / NFHCA Division III National Academic Squad. For Hamilton, the selection is her third, while Chrobock, Hauke, and Mitropoulos all garnered the honor for the second time and Doyle and Wells earned their first recognition. All six were also named to the New England Women's & Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Academic All-Conference team in the fall.

The National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) is a non-profit organization serving field hockey coaches and supporters of the game from across the United States. The mission of the organization is to stimulate the professional development of coaching leadership within the sport of field hockey. The NFHCA strives to cultivate and recognize the professional contributions of its membership and to foster and promote the growth of the sport. The NFHCA is responsible for providing a recognizable presence and voice in regard to legislation affecting the sport as well as interscholastic and intercollegiate programs.
