Wellesley Field Hockey Falls 6-0 in Non-Conference Play at Trinity (Conn.)

HARTFORD, Conn.-- Wellesley College field hockey dropped a 6-0 setback in non-conference action against Trinity College at the Robin L. Sheppard Field on Saturday afternoon. Wellesley falls to 5-10 on the season, while Trinity improves to 10-4.

Junior Jordan Ragland (Westport, Conn.) put Trinity on the board first following a scramble in front of the cage at 7:45. Wellesley sophomore Carson Dennis (Grosse Pointe Farms, Mich.) registered a big defensive save for the Blue at 10:13 to maintain the 1-0 score, but sophomore Caroline Fisher (Kennett Square, Pa.) scored her sixth goal of the season at 32:24 with help from sophomore Kendall Brown (Greenwich, Conn.) to give the Bantams a 2-0 advantage heading into halftime.

Trinity opened up the second half with a goal at 39:52 to take a 3-0 lead when Fisher found Solimine to score her 11th goal of the season. Sophomore Kendall Brown (Greenwich, Conn.) added a goal for the Bantams at 45:47 with an assist from first year Caelin Flaherty (Upton, Mass.). Fisher and first year Meghan Evans (Hooksett, N.H.) combined for the final two goals for Trinity to make the final 6-0.

Wellesley senior goalkeeper Maggie Connelly (Duxbury, Mass.) made 12 saves in the contest and is now 4-8 on the season. Trinity senior goalkeeper Lori Berger (Scottsdale, Ariz.) earned the shutout and improves to 10-4 on the season.

Both teams will play again on Wednesday, October 27. Wellesley will travel to UMass. Dartmouth in non-conference action starting at 7:00 PM. Trinity will finish their regular season on the road at Amherst College at 6:00 PM.
