DARTMOUTH, Mass. -- Senior Haley Chrobock (Branchville, N.J.) scored a natural hat trick in the first half to help Head Coach Julia King earn her 100th career win as Wellesley College field hockey defeated UMass Dartmouth, 3-1, in non-conference play on Wednesday night at Cressy Field. Wellesley improves to 6-10 on the season, while UMass Dartmouth drops to 2-15 overall. 

Now in her eighth season with the Blue, King has an overall record of 100-58. From 2013-2015, she led Wellesley to three consecutive NCAA Tournament quarterfinal appearances and three consecutive appearances in the NEWMAC tournament championships game, winning NEWMAC Tournament titles in 2013 and 2014. In 2014, she guided the Blue to a school-record 19 wins, eclipsing the mark of 18 established during the 2013 campaign.The 2013 and 2014 NEWMAC Coach of the Year, King was also recognized by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) as the Regional Coach of the Year in both 2013 and 2014. 

Chrobock put the Blue on the board first at 11:56, when she redirected a loose ball to score her sixth goal of the season. Chrobock found the back of the cage again when classmate Rachel Hwang (Campbell, Calif.) sent the ball from the right side to the near post to find the senior for her second of the game at 23:45. Chrobock completed the first-half hat trick when she fired away a rebound to give the Blue a 3-0 advantage at 27:24. The hat trick was the first of Chrobock's career. 

Senior Mary Brown (Leicester, Mass.) scored the lone goal for UMass Dartmouth at 48:14 when first year Kylie Dias (Fall River, Mass.) sent the ball from the right side to find Brown at the far post. UMass Dartmouth had two penalty corners in the final two minutes of play, but Wellesley defense shut them down to keep the 3-1 final.

Wellesley held the advantage in shots, 47-13, and in penalty corners, 6-4. Wellesley sophomore goalkeeper Janelle Sullivan (Philadelphia, Pa.) recorded 8 saves in the victory and is now 2-2 on the season. UMass Dartmouth senior goalkeeper Allison Burke (Franklin, Mass.) made 33 saves and is now 1-12.

Wellesley will return home on Saturday, October 27, when they host Wheaton on senior day to finish regular season play at 12:00 PM. UMass Dartmouth will play again on Friday, October 26 when they host Southern Maine at 3:15 PM.
