Wellesley's Mitropoulos Selected to Play in NFHCA Field Hockey Senior Game

WELLESLEY, Mass. -- Wellesley College field hockey senior Arielle Mitropoulos (Cambridge, Mass.) has been selected to play in the 2018 National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Senior Game on Saturday, November 17, at Spooky Nook Sports in Manheim, Pa.

The annual showcase of the nation's top seniors will start immediately following the conclusion of the day's NCAA National Semifinal Games. The NFHCA will hold a brief awards ceremony at the conclusion of the Senior Game to recognize the participants.

"It is truly such an honor to be able to represent Wellesley at the NFHCA Senior game," said Mitropoulos. "In my past four years on the team, I have watched several of my older teammates, all of whom I have looked up to immensely, participate in the annual senior game, and to now be able to do so myself now feels surreal."

A New England Women's & Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) All-Conference and NFHCA All-Region selection as a junior in 2017, Mitropoulous walked-on to the Blue field hockey team as a first year before going on to play in 66 career games. Mitropoulous scored 18 goals in her Wellesley career, including 12 during her standout junior campaign. She has twice been a NEWMAC Academic All-Conference and NFHCA National Academic Squad honoree and was named the Division III National Player of the Week on November 1, 2017 after scoring five goals in two games, including her first career hat trick in a 5-2 win over UMass Dartmouth.

The National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) is a nonprofit organization serving field hockey coaches and supporters of the game from across the United States.
