WESTWOOD, Mass. -- The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) announced the 2018 Field Hockey All-Conference and Postseason Awards on Tuesday and Wellesley College senior Cecie Negron (Midlothian, Va.) has been named First Team All-Conference.

The NEWMAC All-Conference selection is the first for Negron following a four-year career in Blue. Negron appeared in 76 career games, making 75 starts, while scoring eight goals and registering 16 assists. After starting her career as a midfielder, Negron transitioned to defense during her senior year and established herself as one of the top defenders in the NEWMAC, starting all 17 games for the Blue in 2018. A two-year captain and a 2016-17 NEWMAC All-Sportsmanship Team selection, Negron tallied a pair of assists and a defensive save during her senior campaign.

In addition to the NEWMAC All-Conference selections, the NEWMAC also recognized the nine members of the conference's All-Sportsmanship Team. The NEWMAC All-Sportsmanship Team is an award intended to recognize one student-athlete from each team, in every sport that best demonstrates the ideals of the NEWMAC and its Code of Conduct, regardless of his/her overall performance or statistics for the season. Wellesley senior Paige Hauke (Colchester, Va.) was this year's selection for the Blue. The complete list of NEWMAC field hockey honorees can be found below.

Wellesley field hockey finished the 2018 season with a 7-10 overall record and 3-5 record in NEWMAC games.
