Softball Splits with Framingham State

WELLESLEY, Mass. -- Local rivals Wellesley College and Framingham State University split a pair of softball games on Wednesday afternoon in Wellesley. The visiting Rams took game one, 9-7, while the Blue rebounded for a 14-2, five-inning victory in game two.

The split moves Wellesley to 12-8 overall, while Framingham State now sits at 4-14.

Game one featured a wild come-from-behind victory from the Rams. Wellesley took charge early, opening a 6-1 advantage after just three innings. However, Framingham State chipped away, adding one in the fourth, three in the fifth and finally took the lead with a four-run seventh inning. The Blue could not answer in the bottom half of the seventh and the Rams took game one, 9-7.

For Framingham, Alyssa Shea led the offense, going 3-4 with three RBI. Taylor Ezold and Andrea DiTerlizzi each added solo homeruns, while Adriana Faria, Jaleisa Rookard and Kelly Reardon all drove in runs.

Faria earned the win for Framingham State, coming on in relief to record five innings of work, allowing four runs on six hits with four walks and four strikeouts.

Wellesley's Sinta Cebrian went 2-3 with three RBI and a pair of homeruns. Taylor Yamauchi added two RBI and Jayne Ellis picked up a pair of hits.

Game two was all Wellesley, as the Blue pounded out 18 hits to cruise to the 14-2 victory.

Lindsay Johnson threw all five innings for Wellesley to earn the win. She didn't allow an earned run, scattered three hits and struck out five in the victory.

Johnson also had a great day at the plate, going 2-3 with three RBI, while Brittany Bakacs also contributed two hits and three RBI. Mara Blesoff went 3-3 with two RBI and three runs scored, while Rachel Harris hit a two-run homerun.

Framingham State picked up hits from Ezold, Kelly Reardon and Kyle Fortin.

Wellesley is back in action on Friday afternoon, traveling to Smith for a 3:00pm NEWMAC doubleheader. Framingham State is off until April 13th when they host Newbury for a 3:00pm doubleheader.
