Softball's Havrilla Named NEWMAC Player of the Week

WELLESLEY, Mass. -- Wellesley College softball player Emilyrose Havrilla was named the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Player of the Week for the period ending April 6th. This is the first career NEWMAC weekly award for Havrilla, and the Blue's first this season.

Havrilla hit .517 (15-29) with 15 RBI in a 9-1 week for the Blue, which included a 7-1 mark in NEWMAC play. The junior racked up two doubles and four home runs, on the way to a 1.000 slugging average. Havrilla recorded seven multi-hit games and three multi-RBI games in the week, while also scoring 10 runs.

Havrilla led the Blue to seven NEWMAC wins, notably putting the Blue up 3-0 against Babson with a homerun against the defending NEWMAC Pitcher of the Year. She also added a five RBI game in a win over Smith, including her first career grand slam. For the week, Havrilla struck out just once in 34 plate appearances, while drawing four walks and adding a stolen base.

Havrilla leads the Blue this season with a .500 batting average and 21 RBI. She also has five home runs, 22 runs scored and an on-base percentage of .531.

Wellesley softball is 13-7 on the season, having won 11 of the last 12 games. The Blue are back in action on Wednesday, traveling to Endicott for a non-conference twinbill beginning at 3:00pm.
