WELLESLEY, Mass. -- The Wellesley College softball team will host a four-team NCAA Regional beginning Friday, May 9th. The Blue will host Bridgewater State, Saint Joseph of Maine, and Western Connecticut State.

Wellesley earned the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) automatic bid, defeating Smith College 1-0 in the championship game on Saturday. The Blue are 27-9 overall, going 25-3 in their last 28 games.

Rookie Ashtyn Coleman leads the Blue this season with 49 hits and a .476 batting average. The catcher also leads the team with 14 doubles and is second with eight homeruns and 31 RBI. Junior shortstop Emilyrose Havrilla is second on the team with a .444 batting average, while driving in a team-high 33 runs. She leads the Blue with 10 homeruns, the last of which gave Wellesley a 1-0 lead in the NEWMAC Championship game. 

Senior Lindsay Johnson is the Blue's leading pitcher, compiling an overall record of 18-6 with a 2.48 ERA. She had an amazing run through the NEWMAC Tournament, going 3-0, allowing just two earned runs while striking out 14. Johnson was named the NEWMAC Tournament's Most Outstanding Player for her efforts. Her classmates, seniors Jennifer Migliore and Jayne Ellis, have also provided run support, as Migliore hits .385 while Ellis carries a .368 batting average.

Coleman, Havrilla, Migliore, and Ellis lead a potent offensive attack for Wellesley in which nine players are hitting .300 or higher. As a team, the Blue hit .355 with a .418 on-base percentage. 

Wellesley will be up against teams from from the MASCAC, the GNAC and the Little East, with a first-round match-up against Bridgewater State. Saint Joseph's and Western Connecticut will square off in the other first-round game. Game times will be determined on Tuesday at 11:00am.
