UPDATED: Blue Softball to Open NCAA Tournament Friday at Tufts

WELLESLEY, Mass. -- New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Champion Wellesley College will open the 2015 NCAA Division III Softball Championship Tournament on Friday afternoon at 3:30 PM versus Tufts University. Tufts (41-0), the top-ranked team in the nation, will welcome the Blue, MIT and Elms College to Spicer Field in Medford, Massachusetts for this weekend's, May 8-10, Regional.

The double-elimination regional will open on Friday afternoon, with Tufts hosting the Blue at 3:30 PM after MIT (27-8) squaring-off with Elms (20-12). Play will continue with three games on Saturday, May 9, and one game (two if-needed due to the double elimination format) on Sunday, May 10. The team advancing from the regional will compete in the best two-out-of-three Super Regional, May 15 and 16. Super Regional winners will advance to the 2015 Division III Finals, hosted by the Old Dominion Athletic Conference and the City of Salem, May 21-26, in Salem, Virginia. 

Wellesley (22-14) will be making its fourth overall (2007, 2008, 2014) and second consecutive trip to the NCAA Tournament. The Blue are one of four teams from the NEWMAC in the tournament field, as MIT, Wheaton and WPI all earned at-large selections. 

Tickets for this weekend's games will be:

$6 for adults;
$4 for students / seniors

Sunday, May 10th
