LaBouyer, Bresee Represent Wellesley Softball on NFCA All-Region Team

WELLESLEY, Mass. — The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) announced the 2015 NFCA Division III All-Region softball teams on Monday afternoon and Wellesley College softball senior Maria LaBouyer (Yuba City, Calif.) has earned a place on the New England Region First Team. In addition, junior Carly Bresee (Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.) has been named to the New England Region Second Team.

A New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) second team All-Conference selection in 2015, LaBouyer earns her first All-Region honor in her final season in Blue. The Blue second baseman established career-highs in multiple offensive categories this season, playing in 38 of Wellesley's 39 games. LaBouyer collected a career-high 49 hits thanks to a career-high .405 batting average while leading Wellesley with a career-high 34 runs batted in. She ranks in the top-ten all-time in program history in batting average (.345), hits (155) and runs scored (87), and is second all time in assists (246). LaBouyer concluded her outstanding career with five hits, three RBIs and a run scored in three NCAA Tournament Regional games to earn a place at second base on the NCAA DIII Championship Medford Regional All-Tournament Team.

Bresee takes home her second All-Region honor, also earning a place on the second team following her NEWMAC Rookie of the Year campaign in 2013. Wellesley's leader in batting average (.454) and on-base percentage (.480), Bresee ranked in the top-ten in the NEWMAC in both categories. A NEWMAC All-Conference first team selection in 2015, Bresee led the Blue with 54 hits and 13 doubles in 37 games this season. She finished the year third on the team in runs batted in with 20. Bresee was also rewarded for her play in the postseason, earning a spot on the NCAA DIII Championship Medford Regional All-Tournament team at designated player thanks to a .400 batting average over the three-game regional.

Wellesley College softball made its second-straight appearance in the NCAA Division III Softball Championship this spring, after winning the NEWMAC Tournament Championship for the second year-in-row. The Blue closed the season with an overall record of 23-16, going 10-8 NEWMAC games en route to a fifth place finish during the regular season.
