Blue Softball's Coleman, Pisac, Manning Earn NFCA All-Region Accolades

WELLESLEY, Mass. -- The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) has announced the 360 players chosen for the 2017 NFCA Division III All-Region softball teams, and Wellesley College seniors Anna Pisac (Snohomish, Wash.) and Ashtyn Coleman (Scottsdale, Ariz.) and junior Amanda Manning (Chico, Calif.) have all been selected to the New England squad. 

The trio of Wellesley outfielders adds All-Region accolades to their New England Women's & Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) All-Conference team honors earlier this month. Coleman and Pisac each earned a spot on the All-Region second team for the second time in their respective careers, while Manning earned her first career All-Region recognition with a place on the third team. Coleman hit .391, with 30 runs batted in and 13 doubles in 30 games in 2017 season. She finished her career with 166 hits, making her second on Wellesley's all-time hits list, while her .426 career batting average is also the highest in program history. Pisac hit .383 with five doubles, five triples and four home runs in 2017, finishing her Wellesley career as the program's all-time leader in home runs (21), triples (16), and runs batted in (121). Manning finished 2017 with a team-high 34 runs scored and 41 hits, adding nine doubles, four triples and three home runs, to go along with her .387 batting average.

All-Region players are nominated and selected by NFCA member coaches in each of the eight Division III regions. First Team All-Region choices are eligible for selection to the NFCA All-America team, which will be announced the evening of May 24 online at NFCA.org and in person at the NCAA Division III Championship banquet in Oklahoma City.

Wellesley College softball finished the 2017 season with an 18-12 record, which included the 300th victory in program history, and in the career of Head Coach Keri O'Meara when they defeated Wheaton, 2-1 in the NEWMAC Tournament.
