Wellesley's Brittingham Named To NEWMAC Softball All-Conference Second Team

WELLESLEY, Mass. -- Wellesley College softball first year Gen Brittingham (Aliso Viejo, Calif.) has been named to the 2018 New England Women's & Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Softball All-Conference second team.

The NEWMAC Softball All-Conference Team consists of a first and second team of 10 selections, which are voted on by the 10 head softball coaches. Brittingham is the first Wellesley first year to be selected to the All-Conference team since Ashtyn Coleman '17 earned selection in 2014. 

Brittingham was Wellesley's top offensive player during the 2018 campaign, posting a team-leading .375 average while racking-up 36 hits, six doubles, and four home runs in 96 at-bats. The Blue first year finished the season with a .412 on-base percentage and a .563 slugging percentage and scored 14 runs while splitting time between third base and shortstop in the field. Her 54 total bases ranked first on the Blue, while her 11 extra-base hits ranked her second.

Wellesley softball finished the 2018 campaign with a 9-22 record and a 6-12 mark in NEWMAC play.
