Eight Named to 2022 Softball Academic All-Conference Team

WESTWOOD, Mass. – The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) has announced the 2022 Softball Academic All-Conference Team. A total of student-athletes were selected including eight from the Wellesley softball team.

Blue senior Hayley Moniz (Wetsfield, Mass.) earned Academic All-Conference honors for the third time in three consecutive years. Moniz will graduate from Wellesley this spring with a degree in Sociology. Classmate Holly Chin (Newton, Mass.) made the list for the second time and will graduate with a degree in Economics.

Juniors Ingrid Hsu (San Ramon, Calif.) and Marisa Sgambati (Scottsdale, Ariz) each make the Academic All-Conference Team for the second time in two years of eligibility.

Making it for the first time were sophomores Aniko Alexander (Gaithersburg, Md.), Elli DeCleene (North Reading, Mass.), Parker Phillips (River Forest, Ill.), and Julz Vargas (Los Angeles, Calif.).

Honorees must have met the following criteria: earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5/4.0 scale or 4.35/5.0 scale after the 2021 fall semester, achieved second year academic status at her institution, and been a member of the varsity team for the entire season.


The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference consists of 11 highly selective institutions committed to academic excellence: Babson College, Clark University, U.S Coast Guard Academy, Emerson College, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Mount Holyoke College, Smith College, Springfield College, Wellesley College, Wheaton College, and Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
