Wellesley College softball went to extra innings in both games on Thursday with a win and a loss at Legends Way Ballfield. After winning 6-4 in the eighth against Elmhurst University, the Blue (6-4 Overall) fell 4-3 to St. Lawrence University.

Wellesley College softball went 1-1 on Monday. The team defeated William Paterson University 13-3 in the morning before falling 4-2 to Western New England University later in the day at Hancock Park Fields.

Wellesley College softball earned wins over Middlebury College and Keuka College at Hancock Park Fields on Sunday. The Blue (2-2 Overall) scored nine runs in both games with a total of 23 hits on the day.

Blue Softball Announces 2024 Schedule

Keri O'Meara, Head Softball Coach and Associate Professor of the Practice in the Department of Physical Education, Recreation and Athletics (PERA)  at Wellesley College have announced the hiring of Adriane Baird as Assistant Softball Coach Wellesley College. Baird officially joined the Wellesley community on September 1, 2023.

Blue Softball Places Four on 25 Year All-NEWMAC Team

The NEWMAC released the Softball 25 Year All-NEWMAC Team in recognition of the historic 25th Anniversary season. A total of 30 student-athletes have been recognized from the last 25 years, including former Wellesley College softball student-athletes Jenna Harvey '08, Megan Wood '10, Lauren Goldfarb '13, and Carly Bresee '16. The honored team was voted on by the NEWMAC membership.

The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) announced the Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete honors for the 2022-23 academic year this Tuesday. A total of 8,297 student-athletes received the honor, including 12 members of the Wellesley College softball team.

On Thursday, the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) released its 2023 Spring All-Sportsmanship Team. Seniors Gaya Krishna (Houston, Texas), Claire Anderson (Denver, Colo.), juniors Elli DeCleene (North Reading, Mass.), Melinda Alviar (Indianapolis, Ind.) and first year Chloe Guntrip (Irvine, Calif.) represented the Blue on the All-Sportsmanship Team.

The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) revealed the 2023 Softball Academic All-Conference Team on Wednesday with nine members of Wellesley College softball recognized.Honorees must have met the following criteria: earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5/4.0 scale or 4.35/5.0 scale after the 2022 fall semester, achieved second year academic status at their institution, and been a member of the varsity team for the entire season.

On Tuesday, Wellesley College softball senior Ingrid Hsu (San Ramon, Calif.) and sophomore Lauren Young (Fresno, Calif.) were named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team.  The award is given to athletes who in addition to being impactful on their respective team, have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.50, and have achieved second year status at their academic institution. Hsu batted .308 on the season for the Blue with 28 hits, including a pair of triples and scored a team-leading 14 runs. Young earned five wins in the circle for Wellesley while striking out 42 batters over 81 innings in addition to batting .269 with five doubles and a triple this season.
