Basketball's Weaver Earns NEWMAC Player of the Week Award

WELLESLEY, Mass. — Wellesley College basketball's Morgyne Weaver has been named the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the period ending November 23. 

Weaver scored in double-figures in all three of the Blue's games this week. The senior from Oklahoma City, scored a game-high 20 points while grabbing 11 rebounds to record a double-double in a 45-33 win at Simmons on Wednesday.

Weaver followed that up with another double-double, scoring 11 points and pulling down a game-high 16 rebounds in a 56-47 victory over Westfield St. on day one of the Colby Classic. Weaver then closed out the week with an 18 point, 9 rebound effort in a 54-53 loss to host Colby on day two of the Classic. For the week, Weaver also added six assists, three steals and a block.

Blue Basketball will return to the court on Wednesday, December 3 when they travel to take on Emerson in their first NEWMAC contest of the season. Tip-off is at 5:30 PM.
