WELLESLEY, Mass. -- Wellesley College will celebrate the grand re-opening of the Dorothy Towne Fieldhouse on Friday and Saturday, February 13 and 14, 2015. The centerpiece of Wellesley's Nannerl O. Keohane Sports Center, Dorothy Towne Fieldhouse reopened last week following a comprehensive ten-month renovation that included the addition of a new Fitness Center.

The community celebration will begin on Friday afternoon. Members of the Wellesley community are encouraged to wear blue and dress in workout gear for a "Blue Out" campus fitness celebration. The Wellesley community is invited to a reception and open-house from 12:00-3:00 PM in the Keohane Sports Center. Friday's reception will include a Fitness Center Orientation, Health and Wellness Stations and a Spin-a-thon in the newly reopened spinning room!

As part of Friday's reception, the official ribbon cutting ceremony will take place at 12:30 PM in the Fitness Center. All of Blue Nation is invited to celebrate the "official" re-opening of Dorothy Towne Fieldhouse. Special guests will join Bridget Belgiovine, Wellesley College Chair of Physical Education, Recreation and Director of Athletics for the ceremony.

The festivities will continue on Saturday, beginning with the Wellesley 'Alumnae Stretch Panel' at 11:00 AM in Alumnae Hall. The event will provide an opportunity for students to network with local alumnae. Specifically, panelists will focus on how the lessons and habits gained from health, fitness and athletics at Wellesley helped each of them "stretch" to reach their career and personal goals after graduation.

In the afternoon, Wellesley's current student-athletes will take center stage. Blue Basketball will take on New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) rival Mount Holyoke at 2:00 PM, with a pre-game reception scheduled to be held at the Keohane Sports Center beginning at 1:00 PM.

During halftime of the basketball game, Wellesley College will honor Gracia Mangano Martore '73, the donor whose generous contribution made the new hardwood court a possibility, with a court dedication ceremony.
