Wellesley Basketball to Host Babson on National Girls & Women In Sports Day

WELLESLEY, Mass. -- Wellesley College basketball will host crosstown rival Babson College for National Girls & Women in Sports Day, this Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at 7:00 PM at Dorothy Towne Fieldhouse. 

Admission for the game is free and will include a halftime ceremony recognizing Wellesley's Seven Sisters, New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Champions and NCAA championship participants and champions from the past year, including: Wellesley Swimming & Diving, Cross Country, Track & Field and 2016 NCAA Champion Wellesley Crew.

As part of National Girls & Women in Sports Day, local youth teams are invited to share in the celebration and enjoy free Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream with Wellesley student-athletes! 

The game between the Blue and Babson is one of more than 1,000 events taking place across the country for National Girls and Women in Sports Day. Congress has proclaimed this national day each year since 1987. The Day is devoted to recognizing the progress of girls and women in sports, and the benefits that sports and fitness activities can bring to the lives of all girls and women.
