Wellesley Tops NEWMAC Women's Rowing Preseason Poll

Boston, MA --- Wellesley received all seven first-place votes en route to the top spot in the 2015 New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) women's rowing preseason poll, as announced by the league on Friday.

Mount Holyoke College finished second in the poll with WPI following in third place.  Associate member Simmons College was fourth in the voting.  Smith College took fifth while the U.S. Coast Guard Academy was voted sixth.  Clark University rounded out the rankings in seventh.

The 2015 NEWMAC rowing championship will be hosted by Clark on Saturday, April 18 on Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester. The championship regatta will feature a novice race, as well as three varsity races. The NEWMAC champion will be determined based on the combined score earned in the Varsity 8 and Second Varsity 8 events.  This year's conference champion will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Championships in late May.
