Blue Crew Opens Spring Season in Wintry Conditions at Washington College

CHESTERTOWN, Md. — The third-ranked Wellesley College crew team had to contest with wintry conditions as they opened the spring season at fifth-ranked Washington College on Saturday morning on the Chester River in Chestertown, Maryland. The race was shortened to 1,500 meters due to conditions that included a strong cross wind and snow flurry. 

Washington College's first varsity eight recorded a winning time of 6:37.04, followed by the Blue's first varsity eight with a time of 6:41.14. Wellesley second varsity eight followed with a mark of 7:08.33 while Washington College's second varsity boat recorded a time of 7:48.21 to finish fourth. 

Wellesley will be back in action on Saturday, April 4th in Geneva, N.Y. versus Washington College, William Smith and the University of New Hampshire.
