Blue Crew's 2nd Varsity 8 Named NEWMAC Boat of the Week

WELLESLEY, Mass. -- Wellesley College crew's Second Varsity Eight has been named the New England Women's & Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Boat of the Week for the week ending April 16, 2017. 

The Wellesley crew of junior coxswain Sydney Stento (Boise, Idaho), first year Chloe Carlander (Austin, Texas), sophomore Mia Caglieris (Hightstown, N.J.), junior Sloane Rice (Miami, Fla.), junior Molly Hoyer (Newton, N.J.), sophomore Jocelyn Reahl (Portland, Ore.), junior Liz Shumway (Eden Praire, Minn.), junior Audrey Ellis (Lincolnshire, Ill.), and sophomore Katie Livingston (Wellesley, Mass.) opened this weekend's double duals on the Malden River with a win over No. 6 Tufts, defeating the Jumbos (7:29.5) by over 25" with a time of 7:04.3. Wellesley advanced to the 2V8+ final in the event, where they were narrowly defeated by No. 1 Bates, as the Bobcats finished the course in 6:39.7 to Wellesley's time of 6:40.8.

Wellesley crew will return to the water for the 2017 NEWMAC Championships, Saturday, April 29, at 8:30 AM on Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Mass.
