Wellesley Crew Set For Eighth Straight Trip To NCAA Division III Championships

WELLESLEY, Mass. — Defending National Champion Wellesley College crew will make the program's eighth consecutive trip to the NCAA Division III Women's Rowing Championships, May 26-27, 2017 at Lake Mercer in West Windsor, New Jersey. This year's championships will be hosted by The Ivy League and the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference.

The championships are comprised of six teams and each team is required to field two boats of eight rowers and a coxswain. Two at-large Eight boats also are selected. Wellesley, the 2017 New England Women's & Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) champion, earned an automatic bid to this year's national regatta. In 2016, Wellesley captured its first national title at the Sacramento State Aquatic Center in Gold River, California. The Blue put together a Varsity Eight Grand Final victory and a runner-up finish in the Second Varsity Eight Grand Final for the championship.

The Blue will be joined at the 2017 NCAA Championships by Liberty League champion Rochester Institute of Technology, Mid Atlantic Rowing Conference champion Washington College, and New England Small College Athletic Conference champion Bates College. In addition, Ithaca College and Williams College each earned at-large full team bids, while Pacific Luthern University and Wesleyan University (Conn.) earned at-large bids in the Varsity Eights race.
