2017-18 Season Begins For Blue Crew On Sunday At 53rd Head Of The Charles Regatta
WELLESLEY, Mass. – Wellesley College crew will open the 2017-18 season at the 53rd Annual Head Of The Charles Regatta (HOCR) on Sunday, October 22, on the Charles River in Boston.
Founded in 1965, the HOCR is a two-day rowing event featuring many of the top rowers, teams and clubs from around the world. This year's event will take place Saturday and Sunday, October 21 and 22, 2017, with Wellesley set to compete in the Women's Collegiate 8+ on Sunday afternoon at 2:39 PM and the Women's Collegiate 4+ on Sunday at 3:08 PM.
The Blue have two entries in the Women's Collegiate 8+ event for the third consecutive year. Wellesley's Varsity Eight Crew, or Wellesley A, will compete with bow number 6, while Wellesley's Second Varsity Eight, or Wellesley B, will compete with bow number 17. Blue Crew will also field an entry in the Women's Collegiate 4+, with Wellesley A racing under bow number 23. The Blue have posted seven consecutive top-ten times in the Women's Collegiate 8+ at the Head Of The Charles Regatta. Last season, Wellesley had two of the top-twenty crews in the Women's Collegiate Eights, with the Varsity Eight placing sixth and the second varsity eight placing 18th.
