Wellesley Crew Earns At-Large Bid to 2019 NCAA Rowing Championships

WELLESLEY, Mass. -- Wellesley College crew will make the program's tenth consecutive trip to the NCAA Division III Women's Rowing Championships when the Blue compete on Friday and Saturday, May 31 and June 1, 2019 at the Indianapolis Rowing Center at Eagle Creek Park in Indianapolis, Ind. Indiana University will serves as the NCAA host institution for the championships in conjunction with Indiana Sports Corp.

Wellesley earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Championship regatta for the first time 2014 after finishing as the New England Women's & Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) runner-up while also winning the conference's Florence Jope Smith Points Cup for the ninth consecutive season. The Blue finished second in the women's team point trophy standings at this year's New England Rowing Championships and captured the women's team points trophy on Sunday at the National Invitational Rowing Championships. 

Wellesley has finished in the top-four in every NCAA Division III Championship since 2011, including last year when the Blue ended the season as the national runner-up. Wellesley has also finished in the top-three in each of the last four years, including third place finishes in 2015 and 2017 and 2016's NCAA national championship.

The championships are comprised of eight teams and each team is required to field two boats of eight rowers and a coxswain. The Blue will be joined by: Liberty League champion Ithaca, Mid-Atlantic Rowing Conference champion Washington College, NESCAC Champion Bates, NEWMAC champion WPI, as well as Hamilton, Pacific Lutheran, and Wesleyan (Conn.).
