Wellesley's Dingivan, Mulligan Earn CRCA/Pocock Rowing All-America Honors
WELLESLEY, Mass. -- The Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) has announced its Pocock All-America team for the 2019 season, recognizing the outstanding performances of rowers and coxswains at NCAA Division III institutions.
Wellesley College crew juniors Frances Dingivan (Salt Lake City, Utah) and Rhiannon Mulligan (Santa Cruz, Calif.) have each been named All-Americans for the first time in their respective careers. Dingivan earned a spot on the All-America First Team and Mulligan is an All-America Second Team selection. Dingivan's selection to the first team is the tenth consecutive for the Blue crew program. Wellesley has had 15 student-athletes recognized as All-Americans dating back to the 2005-06 season.
Dingivan and Mulligan helped guide the Blue to a third-place team finish at the 2019 NCAA Division III Championships. The duo was also part of the Blue's third-place finish in the Varsity Eight event at the NCAA Championships, with Dingivan in the stroke seat and Mulligan in the six seat for the Blue's top crew. Dingivan and Mulligan were fixtures in the top boat throughout the spring, also helping the Blue Varsity Eight to capture silver at this year's National Invitational Rowing Championships (NIRC) on Lake Quinsigamond.
To be eligible, student-athletes must have participated in at least 75% of all races during the season and have rowed at least 75% of the season's races in the varsity boat (all race before and including May 20, 2019). The student-athlete must also be nominated by her institution and the Head Coach of the student-athlete's institution must be a member in good standing of the CRCA. Selection is also based on: team strength of schedule, regular season record, end of season regatta results, nomination rank, coach's comments, and the student-athlete's 2,000 meter erg score.
Wellesley made the program's tenth consecutive trip to the NCAA Championships in 2019. The Blue have finished in the top-four in every NCAA Division III Championship since 2011 and in the top-three in each of the last five years.
