No. 1 Crew Victorious Over No. 2 Bates at Lake Quinsigamond

WORCESTER, Mass. – The No. 1 Blue Crew earned first place finishes in both the Varsity Eight (V8+) and a first place victory in the Second Varsity Eight (2V8+) over No. 2 Bates on Sunday at Lake Quinsigamond.

In the early first heat, the V8+ took second behind Tufts with a time of 6:54.06 to advance to the finals. No. 2 Bates controlled heat two with a winning time of 6:54.34 to advance. The Wellesley 2V8+ started off strong with a dominant first place finish in the first heat with a time of 7:15.33.

In the V8+ Grand Final, the Blue came out on top with an outstanding race of 6:43.87. Bates ended the race 6:46.50 to claim second. The Wellesley 2V8+ plus found similar success with a final race of 7:00.70 to earn the top spot. Bates put together a solid race of 7:01.95 to finish just behind the Blue.

Wellesley also competed in the 3V8+ race and earned a second place mark with a time of  7:31.65. Bates came out victorious with a time of 7:15.40.

The Blue Crew are back in action on Saturday, April 16 to take on Hamilton, Rochester, Smith, and St. Lawrence in Rome, New York.
