Wellesley Crew Lands Program Record 23 to NEWMAC All-Academic Team

WESTWOOD, Mass – The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) has announced the 2022 Rowing Academic All-Conference Team. A total of 120 student-athletes were selected including a program high 23 from Wellesley College.

Senior Olivia Gorman (Bristol, Conn.), a Women's and Gender Studies major, earned the honor for the third consecutive year. Classmate Katie Ball (Hanover, N.H.), an Economics major, made the team for the second time.

In total, 12 different juniors earned the Academic All-Conference honor. Making the list for the second time was Cora Barrett (Tewksbury, Mass.), a Physics/Mathematics major, Anneka Hallstrom (Ann Arbor, Mich.), a Physics major, Amelia Lee (Hong Kong, China), an Architecture major, Cricket Liebermann (East Montpelier, Vt.), an Environmental Studies major, Macy Lipkin (Framingham, Mass.), a Peace and Justice Studies major, Isabella Santos (West Hartford, Conn.), a Political Science/Economics major, Gaya Krishna (Houston, Texas), a Neuroscience/French major, and Alison Sickles (Keyport, N.J.), who is a Chemistry major. Earning the honor for the first time was Emma Anghel (Windham, Maine), a Women's and Gender Studies major, Anastasia Brooks (Dallas, Texas), a Mathematics major, Zipporah Cohen (St. Paul, Minn.), a Computer Science major, and Karina Zimmerman (Seattle, Wash.), an Environmental Studies major.

Rounding out the Academic All-Conference honor was sophomores Shelby Deibler (Burlington, N.J.), a Political Science major, Caroline Espositio (Little Compton, R.I.), a Physics major, Bryn Flanigan (Denver, Colo.), a Comparative Literature major, Rosemarie Goldstein (Weston, Fla.), a History major, Alyssa Lima, a Computer Science major, Abby Martinage (Arlington, Va.), a English/Classical Civilization major, Kaity Severin (Newton, Mass.), a Sociology major, Rachel Shrives (Harvard, Mass.), a Chemistry major, and Adeline Van Buskirk (Himgham, Mass.), a Political Science major. 

Selections must have met the following criteria: earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5/4.0 scale or 4.35/5.0 scale after the 2021 fall semester, achieved second year academic status at their institution, and been a member of the varsity team for the entire season.


The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference consists of 11 highly selective institutions committed to academic excellence: Babson College, Clark University, U.S Coast Guard Academy, Emerson College, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Mount Holyoke College, Smith College, Springfield College, Wellesley College, Wheaton College, and Worcester Polytechnic Institute. Simmons College is an Associate Member in the sport of rowing.
