Emilie Muller Promoted to Associate Head/Novice Crew Coach at Wellesley

WELLESLEY, Mass. -- Emilie Muller has been promoted to Associate Head/Novice Crew Coach of the Wellesley College crew team. Muller originally joined Wellesley as the Novice Crew Coach in 2017, following a standout collegiate rowing career at Bates College.

In Muller's time as a member of Head Coach Tessa Spillane's coaching staff at Wellesley, the Blue have garnered three top-three national finishes, despite not competing in 2020 or 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Blue finished as national runner-up in 2018, third in the nation in 2019 and, most recently, as 2022 NCAA Division III National Champions.

"In her five years at Wellesley, Emilie has been excellent in every area of work and in every way," said Spillane. "She has been instrumental to Blue Crew maintaining its strength and excellence on and off the water, particularly during our two year hiatus from competition. She is more than deserving of this promotion and I am thrilled to keep coaching alongside her - our entire program benefits so greatly from her professionalism, humor and organization."

Spillane, Muller and assistant coach Emilia Ball '19 were named the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) Division III National Coaching Staff of the Year following the 2022 season. Muller has become both a vital member of the rowing coaching staff while continuing to contribute in numerous ways to our overall success of the Physical Education, Recreation and Athletics (PERA) Department, including as Waterfront Coordinator at Butler Boathouse.

A member of Bates' 2015 NCAA Division III National Championship team, Muller earned the Bates College Rowing Association's Emily E. Dorrance Award in 2016, given annually to the 'the female rower who strives for athletic excellence for both herself and her teammates.' A Religious Studies major, Muller earned her degree in 2016 after earning multiple CRCA, NESCAC and NIRC All-Academic honors during her collegiate career.
