Bio

Seth Hussey joined the Wellesley Rowing coaching staff in the fall of 2014. He works primarily as the novice  coach, while also being heavily involved in high school athlete recruiting. Alongside Head Coach Tessa Spillane and Assistant Coach Hannah Woodruff, Hussey was awarded the 2015-16 Division III National Coaching Staff of the Year Award after helping Wellesley win the 2016 NCAA Division III National Championship.

Prior to coming to Wellesley, Hussey spent 2013-14 at Bates College, where his women’s 3V eight went undefeated, taking home NESCAC, NERC and ECAC championships. He also coached the women’s novice 4+ to an NERC championship and the varsity 4+ to an ECAC championship.

From 2011 to 2013, Hussey served as the women’s rowing graduate assistant at Purdue University where he completed his master’s degree in Kinesiology. While at Purdue, he led the novice women’s squad to an ACRA national championship in the NW4+ in 2013. He coached five ACRA All-American first boat selections and eight ACRA Academic All-Americans over his two seasons with the Boilermakers. Before arriving at Purdue, Hussey spent three years as the assistant women’s coach and recruiting coordinator at Hamilton College. He helped guide the women’s team to its first-ever top-10 finish in the CRCA Coaches Poll in 2011.

A 2008 graduate of St. Lawrence University, Hussey rowed for four years in the Saints’ varsity eight boat, while completing a bachelor’s degree in Neuroscience.
