The Northeast Fencing Conference (NFC) announced the league's 2017-2018 All-Star honors this and Wellesley College fencing first year Julia Calventus-Coveney (Barcelona, Spain) and sophomore Brie Maurer (Fredericksburg, Va.) have each earned All-Star recognition for the first time in their collegiate careers.

Wellesley College fencing junior Meg Harney (Wilmette, Ill.) has earned the Northeast Fencing Conference's (NFC) 2017-18 Sachs Award. Named after Elif and Jason Sachs, former coaches at Tufts University, the award is given to the fencer with the best record who started fencing in College. 

Sophomore Brie Maurer was 12th overall in foil in her second NCAA Regional appearance.

Paced by a 12th place performance in foil from sophomore Brie Maurer (Fredericksburg, Va.), Wellesley College fencing closed out the 2017-18 season with a strong showing on Sunday at the 2018 NCAA Northeast Regional. This year's regional was hosted by Brandeis University at the Gosman Sports and Convocation Center.

Nine Fencers Set To Represent Wellesley at 2018 NCAA Northeast Regional

Nine Wellesley College fencers will represent the Blue on Sunday, March 11, at the 2018 NCAA Northeast Regional at Brandeis University’s Gosman Athletic Center. Competition in women’s sabre and epee will begin at 8:30 AM, with women’s foil to follow at 9:30 AM.

First year Lucille Tsao finished in a tie for third in foil after advancing to the semifinals (Frank Poulin).
Wellesley Fencing Takes 3rd Overall at NEIFC Championships

The Wellesley College fencing combined for 70 bout victories and a +125 touch ratio to take third place overall in the team standings at the 2018 NEIFC Championships on Saturday at Mount Holyoke.

Wellesley College fencing put together a perfect 6-0 record at the third Northeast Fencing Conference meet of the season on Saturday at Smith College. Wellesley defeated: Dartmouth, UMass, Smith, Vassar, Boston University, and Tufts to improve to 20-9 on the season. Wellesley’s 20-win campaign is the first for the program since 2010-11.

First year Julia Calventus-Coveney (Barcelona, Spain) posted a 3-0 mark in epee, but the Wellesley College fencing was defeated in all three weapons to drop an 18-9 final to host Brandeis University on Tuesday evening at the Gosman Sports and Convocation Center. 

Senior Taylor Hood posted a perfect 3-0 mark to lead the Blue to a 6-3 win in foil (Julia Monaco).

Wellesley College fencing opened the second half of the season on Saturday evening in southern California, dropping a 17-10 final to the University of California at San Diego (UCSD). Wellesley is now 14-8 overall on the season.

Wellesley College fencing split a pair of matches in a rare midweek fixture at Harvard University’s Malkin Athletic Center. The Blue defeated Tufts, 17-10, but dropped an 18-9 decision to the host Crimson.

Wellesley fencing had a strong showing at their first NFC meet of the year, going 3-3 overall (Frank Poulin).

Wellesley College fencing posted a 3-3 record at the first Northeast Fencing Conference meet of the season on Saturday at the Olney-Margolies Atheltic Center at Brown University. Wellesley earned victories over UNH, Sacred Heart, and Brandeis, while falling to Boston College, MIT, and Brown. Wellesley is now 13-6 overall.

Wellesley is now 10-3 overall after posting a 5-2 record at the Vassar Invitational (Frank Poulin).

Senior Taylor Hood went 13-1 in foil to lead the Blue to a 5-1 record at the LIU Post Invitational (Frank Poulin).

Wellesley College fencing opened the 2017-18 season on Sunday at the LIU Post Invitational. The Blue registered five wins at the event, defeating Yeshiva, the host Pioneers, Fairleigh Dickinson, Wagner, and Hunter, while only registering one setback to Drew.
