Sam Wolstenholme-Britt Named Elliot Lilien Award Winner

WELLESLEY, Mass. – Blue fencing senior Sam Wolstenholme-Britt (Cary, N.C.) has been named the Elliot Lilien Award winner announced by the Northeast Fencing Conference (NFC). It marks the first time a Wellesley fencer has earned the prestigious honor.

Named after NFC founder, former Commissioner, and USA Fencing Hall of Fame nominated coach Elliot Lilien, the award is given to that fencer in the conference who shows exemplary sportsmanship and an excellent parry system. To be eligible, a fencer must meet the bouts fenced threshold that is also applied to all-star eligibility.  The winner is selected by voting at the coaches and captains at the annual meeting.

Wolstenholme-Britt compiled a 71-34 record in epee for the Blue throughout the 2021-22 season, including an impressive 12-2 record at the NFC Conference Meet No. 3.

Founded in 1992, the Northeast Fencing Conference's mission is to support intercollegiate fencing in and around New England. The league organizes a round-robin schedule of dual meet competitions for the fencing programs at all member institutions. The member institutions are a mix of both NCAA varsity programs and student-organized club programs.
