Wellesley Golf Improves on Day Two at Mount Holyoke Invitational

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. -- The Wellesley College golf team finished 10th out of 15 teams at the two-day Mount Holyoke Invitational. The event was held at The Orchards Golf Club, a par-72, 5,845-yard course.

Wellesley finished with a two-day team score of 718, after shaving 28 strokes off of their day-one score. The Blue recorded a 373 in the first round and then made a significant improvement by shooting a 345 on day two, moving up one place by overcoming LIU-Post to take tenth place.

The Blue were led individually by junior Lei Wei who shot an 80 on day two, improving on her day-one score by 13 strokes.  Wei finisihed in 30th place out of 88 competitors, recording rounds of 93 and 80 to finish with a 173.

Behind Wei, first-year Maya Muldowney hit rounds of 89 and 90 to finish with a 179, and tie for a 38th-place ranking. One stroke separated sophomore Jacqueline Lu and first-year Sam Lanevi who shot a 185 and 184, respectively.  Both Lu and Lanevi improved on their day-one scores, with Lu shaving two strokes from day one and Lanevi improving by 17 strokes.

Rounding out Wellesley's individuals, senior Haneen Anbarserri shot identical rounds of 98, finishing in a tie for 67th out of the field of 88.

Williams captured the team title with a two-day total of 623 (322-301), they were followed by Ithaca (635) and Middlebury (640) who took second and third. Amherst's Jamie Gracie earned medalist honors, carding a 148 (76-72), while Williams' Tracey Kim finished second with a 152 (79-73).

Wellesley is back in action on October 4th and 5th, heading to Williams College for the Ephs' Fall Invitational.
