Blue Golf Records Team Best Mark On Opening Day at Nehoiden

WELLESLEY, Mass. – Wellesley College golf opened the 2016-17 season on Saturday, putting together a record team score of 316 versus Husson University and Rhode Island College at Wellesley's Par-72, 5860 yard Nehoiden Golf Course. 

First year Kalau Tanaka-Pesamino (Ewa Beach, Hawai'i) opened her Wellesley career with a one over par round of 73, finishing as the top player in the field. Tanaka-Pesamino was followed closely by teammate Annika Vandayar (Garnet Valley, Pa.), as the Wellesley sophomore finished with a score of 76.

The Blue had all seven of the top scores on the day, with Tanaka-Pesamino and Vandayar followed by first year Ryan MacVicar's (Tuscaloosa, Ala.) score of 82, sophomore Amy (Zilin) Jin's (Shenzhen, China) mark of 85, and first year Naomi Kim's (Troy, Mich.) mark of 86.

With seven Wellesley players in the field, junior Maya Muldowney (Waunakee, Wis.) and first year Isabelle Chun (Palo Alto, Calif.) were scored as individuals, finishing with rounds of 82 and 86, respectively.

Wellesley returns to Nehoiden Golf Course next weekend to host the Ann S. Batchelder Invitational. Now in its ninth year, the Ann S. Batchelder Invitational will tee-off at 11:00 AM on Saturday.
