Blue Golf In Fifth After Day One of MHC Invitational

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. – Wellesley College golf is in fifth place in the team standings with a score of 329 following the opening round of the Mount Holyoke Invitational on Saturday at the Orchards Golf Club in South Hadley, Mass.

Williams College leads the field of 14 with a score of 300, followed by New York University (305) in second, Amherst College (314) in third and Middlebury (323) in fourth. Williams College's Phoebe Mattana (Demarest, N.J.) and NYU's Ashley Tsoi (Vancouver, British Columbia) are tied first on the individual leaderboard with matching scores of 72.

Wellesley first year Ryan MacVicar (Tuscaloosa, Ala.) is tied for fifth after shooting an opening round 76 in her first collegiate event away from Wellesley. Sophomore Annika Vandayar (Garnet Valley, Pa.) is five strokes back of MacVicar in 24th place with a score of 81. First year Kalau Tanaka-Pesamino (Ewa Beach, Hawai'i) added a score of 83, while junior Maya Muldowney (Waunakee, Wis.) and sophomore Amy (Zilin) Jin (Shenzhen, China) tied with opening round scores of 89.

Wellesley will close out the Mount Holyoke Invitational on Sunday at The Orchards. Play is scheduled to resume at 8:30 AM.
