Wellesley Golf in Ninth as Play Opens at Williams Fall Classic

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – Wellesley College golf is in ninth place following a cool and blustery day during the opening round of the Williams Fall Classic at the Par-71 Taconic Golf Club. The Blue shot an opening round score of 348. 

Tournament host Williams leads the field with a score of 310. The Ephs have a five-stroke lead over Middlebury College (315), while Amherst College and New York University are tied for third with matching scores of 318. Le Moyne College and Hamilton College are tied for fifth with scores of 335. Williams junior Elizabeth Gudas (Binghamton, N.Y.) has the individual lead after the first day with a two-over 73.

Wellesley first year Ryan MacVicar (Tuscaloosa, Ala.) had the low score for the Blue on Saturday, shooting an opening round 82. Junior Maya Muldowney (Waunakee, Wis.) finished just six strokes back of MacVicar with a score of 89, while first year Kalau Tanaka-Pesamino (Ewa Beach, Hawai'i) and sophomore Annika Vandayar (Garnet Valley, Pa.) shot matching rounds of 89. First year Isabelle Chun (Palo Alto, Calif.) added a round of 101. 

Final round play begins tomorrow, October 2, with a shotgun start at 9:00 AM.
