Blue Golf Finishes Ninth at 17-Team Williams Fall Classic

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – First year Ryan MacVicar (Tuscaloosa, Ala.) fired a second round 77 to help lead Wellesley College golf to a ninth place finish on Sunday at the 17-team Williams College Fall Classic at the Par-71 Taconic Golf Club. 

Led by individual medalist Cordelia Chan (Windsor, Ontario), host Williams captured the title with a two-day score of 612. Amherst College (625) took second by one stroke over third place New York University (626), while Middlebury College (641) and Le Moyne College (673) rounded out the top five. Wellesley was the second highest Liberty League school in the tournament standings, as the Blue trailed only NYU with their two-day total of 689. 

MacVicar finished the tournament with a score of 159, leading the Blue on both Saturday (82) and Sunday (77) to finish in a tie for 13th. First year classmate Kalau Tanaka-Pesamino (Ewa Beach, Hawai'i) was the second lowest finisher for the Blue, turning in a second round 84 to total 173 on the weekend. 

Sophomore Annika Vandayar (Garnet Valley, Pa.) and junior Maya Muldowney (Waunakee, Wis.) added rounds of 87 and 93 to round out the Blue team score on Sunday. Vandayar finished the weekend with a total of 176, Muldowney had a two-day score of 181. Also in action for the Blue, first year Isabelle Chun (Palo Alto, Calif.) drop four strokes from Saturday and recorded a 97 on Sunday. 

Blue golf will take next weekend off before closing out the fall season on Saturday, October 15 at Johnson & Wales.
