MacVicar, Wellesley Golf Third After Day One At Liberty League Championship

SUFFERN, N.Y. – Wellesley College golf first year Ryan MacVicar (Tuscaloosa, Ala.) is tied for third place after shooting an opening round 77 (+5) at the 2017 Liberty League Golf Championships, hosted by New York University (NYU) at the Par-72, 5,804 Yard Spook Rock Golf Course. MacVicar's opening round 77 also helped the Blue grab third in the team standings after day one with a total score of 332.

NYU leads the field with a score of 304, followed by Mount Holyoke (327) in second, the Blue in third, Vassar (336) in fourth and Saint Lawrence (347) in fifth. Union College (369) is in sixth and William Smith College (382) is in seventh. NYU's Jennifer Bluetling and Arisa Kimura are in first place in the individual standings and are just two strokes ahead of MacVicar with matching scores of 75 (+3). 

Wellesley junior Maya Muldowney (Waunakee, Wis.) is in a tie for 13th place in the 35 player field after carding a score of 83 (+11) on Saturday. First year Isabelle Chun (Palo Alto, Calif.) is tied for 15th, while sophomore Amy (Zilin) Jin (Shenzhen, China) is tied for 19th and first year Naomi Kim (Troy, Mich.) is in a tie for 21st. Chun was just off Muldowney's pace with an opening round 85 (13+). Jin added a score of 87 (+15) and Kim was just one stroke back with an 88 (+16).
