MacVicar Leads Wellesley Golf To Fourth Place Finish at Batchelder Invitational

WELLESLEY, Mass. -- Sophomore Ryan MacVicar (Tuscalossa, Ala.) finished in third place in the individual standings to lead Wellesley College golf to fourth place in the team standings on Sunday at the 10th Annual Ann S. Batchelder Invitational at Wellesley's Par 72, 5,860 yard Nehoiden Golf Course. 

Amherst College (309-310-619) captured the team title for the second year in-a-row, finishing three strokes ahead of Williams College (311-311-622) in second and eleven strokes ahead of third place Middlebury College (319-311-630). Host Wellesley dropped a spot from Saturday to finish in fourth (316-320-636), while Vassar College (333-319-652) took fifth and Mount Holyoke College was sixth (347-350-697). 

Williams junior Cordelia Chan (Windsor, Ontario) earned individual medalist honors, moving from a tie for fifth place on Saturday to the top of the leaderboard with a final round 71. Chan was 4-over (148) for the weekend, she carded a 77 on Saturday.

MacVicar finished with a score of 78 on day two, after opening with a 76 on Saturday, to lead the Blue with a total of 154. Classmate Kalau Tanaka-Pesamino (Ewa Beach, Hawai'i) finished in a five-way tie for fifth place with a weekend total of 156 (76-80). 

First year Rosey Li (Princeton, N.J.) was one stroke off MacVicar for the low round of the day for the Blue, adding a 79 to a Saturday 86 to finish in a tie for 19th at 165. Senior Maya Muldowney (Waunakee, Wis.) dropped a stroke from her opening day score, shooting an 83 to total 167 (T-22) in the tournament, while sophomore Isabelle Chun (Palo Alto, Calif.) was one stroke back (168), finishing in a tie for 24th place.

Playing as individuals for the Blue, first year Abby Zong (Mercer Island, Wash.) finished in a tie for 29th with sophomore Naomi Kim (Troy, Mich.), as the duo each finished with two-day scores of 165. First year Devyani Kalra (Short Hills, N.J.) grabbed 31st place (178), while sophomore Olivia de Cuba (Bilthoven, Netherlands) was in 33rd (181) and junior Annika Vandayar (Garnet Valley, Pa.) was 34th (182).

Wellesley continues the fall season next Saturday and Sunday, September 23 and 24, at the Mount Holyoke Invitational at The Orchards in South Hadley, Mass.
