Wellesley Golf Jumps Up To 7th Place To Conclude MHC Invitational

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. – Wellesley College golf dropped nine strokes from their team score, shooting a combined 327, to finish the Mount Holyoke College Invitational in 7th place (336-327-663) on Saturday at the par 72, 6,575 yard Orchards Golf Club. The Blue finished Saturday in 8th place. 

Williams College rallied past Amherst College with a final round 296 to finish atop the team standings with a two day total of 603 -- ten strokes ahead of their rivals from Amherst. Williams junior Cordelia Chan (Windsor, Ontario) earned individual medalist honors for the second consecutive weekend (74-71-145), winning at The Orchards after taking medalist honors at Wellesley's Nehoiden Golf Club. 

Wellesley sophomore Ryan MacVicar (Tuscalossa, Ala.) dropped two strokes from her opening day score, shooting an 80 to finish the tournament in a tie for 23rd place. First year Rosey Li (Princeton, N.J.) matched MacVicar with a round of 80, making a big jump up the leaderboard for the Blue after she shot an 88 on Saturday. Li went from a tie for 47th on Saturday to finishing in a tie for 36th on Sunday.

Sophomore Kalau Tanaka-Pesamino (Ewa Beach, Hawai'i) added an 81 to her opening day 82, closing a consistent weekend in a tie for 26th place. After opening with an 86 on Saturday, sophomore Isabelle Chun (Palo Alto, Calif.) posted the same score on Sunday to finish in 44th place.

First year Abby Zhong (Mercer Island, Wash.) saw the biggest improvement on moving day, rebounding from an opening round 99 to shoot 88. Zhong moved from 75th to a tie for 67th place with her performance. Rounding out the scores for the Blue, senior Maya Muldowney (Waunakee, Wis.) finished with a score of 90 on Sunday, following an 86 on Saturday, to take 52nd place. 

Wellesley golf continues the fall season in two weeks at the Williams Invitational at Taconic Gold Course. First round play will begin the morning of Saturday, October 7.
