Wellesley Golf Opens Play At Williams Fall Invitational

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- Wellesley College golf is in seventh place following the opening round of play at the Williams Fall Invitational at the Par-71, 6,640 yard Taconic Golf Club.

The Blue shot an opening round score of 334 and are eight strokes behind sixth place Vassar (326).  Tournament host Williams leads the field with a score of 306, one stroke ahead of second place Amherst.

First year Rosey Li (Princeton, N.J.) was Wellesley's top performer on Saturday, shooting a +7 round of 78 to grab a tie for 10th place. Sophomore Kalau Tanaka-Pesamino (Ewa Beach, Hawai'i) and senior Maya Muldowney (Waunakee, Wis.) followed Li, shooting matching rounds of 85 to tie for 39th place.

Sophomores Ryan MacVicar (Tuscaloosa, Ala.) and Isabelle Chun (Palo Alto, Calif.) were each one stroke back of Tanaka-Pesamino and Muldowney and are in a tie for 46th place after carding matching opening round scores of 86. Also in action for the Blue, first year Abby Zhong (Mercer Island, Wash.) finished with a score of 97.

Final round play begins tomorrow, October 8, with a shotgun start at 9:00 AM.
